A Game That Takes Place on My Backyard Court
Playing sports with friends is a great way to have fun and stay active. But what if you don’t know anyone who plays the same sport as you? It’s time to break out of your comfort zone! We’ve all had that feeling where we’re standing on the sidelines, watching our friends play a game we could easily join in on, but are too afraid to do so. Don’t let this happen! Friends don’t let friends play basketball alone or soccer alone – it just doesn’t seem right. Here are some tips for overcoming your fears and playing sports with new people:
– Find a sports partner: You can find someone to play basketball with right now with the help of lunchtime. This way you don’t have to go out and try to strike up conversations in person for fear of rejection – just look through profiles until you find someone who is looking for a new pal!
– Set boundaries: When meeting people from an online service or via social media, it might be hard not to feel intimidated. It’s important that both parties know what they are getting into before things kick off so there will be no surprises later on down the line. Establishing these limits at first allows everyone involved some time to assess whether this partnership would work well long term or if it should end sooner rather than later. Make sure to have an out if needed
– Be honest: It’s important to be upfront about what you’re looking for. If this is just a short term thing, or if it could extend into the future – mention that right off the bat!
And don’t forget to ask some questions of your own too! You’ll want to know what they are expecting from you and how long their attention span lasts before deciding on whether or not agreeing to meet with them would be worth your while. See below for more details on these thoughts…
